Following are photos I captured in Marrakech, Morocco during a visit there in February 2024.

It is forbidden to take photographs of the king’s palaces. After taking one too many photographs and too close to the palace, one of the king’s ever watchful guards instructed me to delete the errant photos in front of him and empty the recycle bin, too. He was savvy about iPhones. Bahia Palace is a historical and cultural landmark open to the public and not where the king resides. The location of Dar al-Makhzen, the “official residence” for the king in the old city, the medina, is not disclosed for security and privacy reasons. The king has several palaces and personal residences in numerous locations throughout Morocco.A view of Bahia Palace.
